Nyumburu Cultural Center Supporters and Friends,

In October 2024, Nyumburu Cultural Center will be celebrating 53 years of existence. We are asking that you support our 24-hour fundraising effort for Giving Day on March 6, 2024. We would like to challenge all of our supporters to contribute $53 or a multiple of $53: i.e., $106, $159, $212, $265, $318, $371, $424, $477, or $530. We would like to have a couple of supporters and friends contribute $5,300 to the Nyumburu Cultural Center Scholarship Fund. Proceeds from the Scholarship Fund will allow Nyumburu Cultural Center to directly assist students with last-dollar scholarships; as well as help to defray the cost of study abroad and/or other educational experiences important to help UMD students matriculate and graduate. Of course, we will accept any amount with a minimum of $10 or more. We ask that you visit Giving Day on March 6, 2024. Select the Nyumburu Cultural Center Scholarship Fund and make your donation.

In honor of Giving Day 2024, the University of Maryland will offer competitions that could help the Nyumburu Cultural Center raise additional dollars with the following competitions:

Power Hour: Most Alumni Donors - 2 Winners

$2,000 Each

First: Unit with most alumni donors between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. EST

Second: Unit with most alumni donors between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST

Power Hour: Most Faculty & Staff Donors - 3 Winners

$2,000 Each

Unit in each tier with the most Faculty & Staff Donors between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. EST.

Power Hour: School/College Most Donors - 3 Winners

$1,500 Each

School/College Unit with the most donors during the following hours:

Tier 3 Units: 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. EST

Tier 1 Units: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST

Tier 2 Units: 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST

Power Hour: Most Parent/Family Donors

$1,500 Unit with most parent and family donors between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. EST.

Power Hour: Most Student Donors

$1,500 Unit with most student donors between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. EST.
